Wedding inside Howe Caverns

April 2, 2018 by Erik Christian

It’s not often someone gets to photograph a wedding 150 feet underground in one of the most well known caves in the northeast. This weekend I shot a wedding ceremony for Ara and Ben down inside Howe Caverns in upstate NY. I hadn’t been down inside Howe Caverns in almost 30 years. I loved touring the caverns then and still do. This has to be the most unique locations I have ever photographed a wedding. It was a very tiny, intimate ceremony and then afterwards we toured the cavern and stopped along the way for portraits. I was able to use a softbox for the portraits along with the existing cave lighting to create very unique portraits and some of my favorite for wedding portraits ever.

Awesome photos! This place is one of mine and my wife’s favorite places in the world. The illuminated heart has special meaning for both of us.
