Married for 70 years

For the latest edition of Orange Magazine I shot the portraits of Carmela and John Staples from New Windsor. They have been married for 70 years! I wanted to get a modern sort of American Gothic sort of portrait going into this assignment. I asked where they both spend a lot of time in their home. They both agreed the dining room table. So I had them both seated on the same side. I notice a rifle hanging on the wall along with a great lamp hanging over the table. Using a wide angle lens and one gridded softbox I show low to include the Staples at the bottom of the shot and the gun and lamp at the top. It angle creates an interesting feel to the photos giving them context with their surroundings.
