This week I needed to shoot a number of head shots. I decided to change up my standard portrait and go for something a little more dramatic. For the first two portraits below I used 6 lights and a reflector. The others are using 3 and a reflector. All photos copyright Times Herald-Record.
1. Is the keylight up high in a large softbox.
2. Is an sb800 in a white bounce umbrella used as an on-axis fill.
3. Is the hairlight. I used a bare sb25 zoomed to 85mm
4. Is another sb25 in a bounce umbrella used as a highlight on the side of the face. It is more evident in the portrait of Barry Lewis below.
5 and 6. One is the studio light pointed at the black seamless to create the halo. The other is an sb25 pointed at the back of the subjects’ head.
