Back in June is stopped by the Snug Harbor bar in New Paltz to shoot a portrait of local author Marc Fried. I have read some of his books the local history of the Shawangunk Ridge. He is a very interesting guy and I was thrilled to have a chance to get a great portrait of Marc. Normally all my portraits are lit with strobes. But this portrait is different. I used the natural light from the window at the left and used a small softbox to light up the sign in the back. The light was perfect streaming through the window and it was quite a change for me as a photographer. This is one of my favorite portraits this year.
