This part 3 of a 10 part series I shot with my models Megan and Emma last summer and fall. These photos comprise ballet poses at beautiful unexpected locations around the Hudson Valley and Catskills region of New York State. Check back weekly for new posts on the Ballet Project
Part 3 was taken just before sunset at the pond at Winding Hills park. As the sun was setting it put a spot light on a small area along the shore line. We took advantage of the fading light as quickly as possible. Megan literally ran over to that spot to pose before the sun dropped below the horizon.

May 10, 2013 at 9:54 amHey Erik this series is beautiful. Before I read how the light was cast I was wondering how you did it. Thank God for natural light LOL. Excellent use of a fleeting light source. Bravo!

May 14, 2013 at 7:03 pmThanks Jim. This one was pure luck! There is no way I could have lit that scene without the sun.

May 15, 2013 at 9:49 amHey, Erik, these are beautiful – and spooky and unsettling. There are a few where the girl’s arms look so long, she is nearly unhuman. I get a Diane Arbus (Diane?) feeling from some of them – especially the first one in the second part. I really like them – and wonder what you are going to do with them? This is such rich stuff.

May 22, 2013 at 11:16 amThank you Carrie. That means a lot coming from you. I am hoping at some point to print them up large and put them in a gallery and maybe get enough eyeballs on them that they spread around the internet.
