At times I find my creative reservoir runs low and I feel like I am fooling myself that I am any good at photography. I wanted to share a wonderful podcast by Ibarionex Perello. It’s called The Candid Frame. I found myself in doldrums a few months back and really felt like nothing I shot have any inspiration behind it. About the same time I found The Candid Frame. The podcast has a great mix of examples of photographers who are on their way up and how they are succeeding in doing so and well and long established photographers talking about how they get inspired and keep up the high level of work. I think one of my favorite episodes is #178 Lessons Learned:
“In this episode of The Candid Frame, Ibarionex shares some insights he’s learned from the many interviews that he’s conducted for the podcast, books and magazine articles. He shares how he’s come to see his own creativity through the practices of some of the world’s best photographers. He discusses the idea how he has come to face fear, anxiety and self-doubt when it comes to taking on new projects.”
After I listened to it one morning I was blown away at the idea of if you have anxiety and discomfort you are moving in the right direction. I have been trying to get over that feeling before shoots and been trying to get in a comfort zone but have not been able to find one. This opens my eyes to the fact that this anxiety and discomfort is a GOOD thing and a will push my creative force further and gave me a good sense of direction.
I wanted to share this to others who may not know about the podcast and publicly thank Ibarionex for sharing. I really think that show was one of the most valuable I have heard in the past few months. I hope others get as much out of it as I did.
