I had the honor of being involved with my wife’s grandfathers (Emil Valentine) 100th birthday celebration. She had an amazing idea to get birthday cards from around the world for him. We were able to get Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney involved to spread the word. By the time his party rolled around he had over 5,000 cards from all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, Guam, military addresses in Europe, Asia and the Pacific, 28 countries (6 continents): Malta, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand and Chile!
The request ran in news stories in about 15 cities around the country including Fox News. And after the presentation by Congressman Maloney the story made it to MSNBC. Here is the MSNBC story plus photos from the entire birthday celebration.
